Other Things
There's really only a couple of
other things that will make a website perform poorly.
One will cause you page to load slow and the other will
adversely affect your search engine results.
Flash
Flash is an excellant computer animation
program made by Macromedia. It's used in web design, television
and videos. There's only one problem with it though. Flash
files are really movies and search engines can't crawl
the .swf Flash file format used on the internet. Like
framesets, a website completely designed in Flash will
kill any hopes of number one page rankings. Using Flash
animation on a website is ok, just not designinig the
whole website layout in Flash.
Images
Images can create some unique problems
on a webpage. The biggest mistake made in web design is
to not optimize images to be as small in file size as
possible. A few unoptomized images on a page and it can
grow to a huge file size and load very slowly in your
visitor's browser.
Using images is OK, you just have
to keep an eye on the total page file size so it doesn't
get too heavy.
