Designs That Don't Work

Non-Template Layouts
Generally, when you think about
designs that don't work you're dealing with things that
tend to cause websites to be problematic or fail to acheive
respectable search engine results. Websites that require
alot of time to layout and update are poor designs also.
Website template are the answer.
There are two different kinds of
templates, Turnkey Templates and Dreamweaver Templates
- and they aren't related in concept. Both have very strong
advantages over websites that are not template based.
Turnkey Templates
Websites that are pre-built and sold as complete pre-designed
ideas are called 'turnkey website templates'. All you
have to do is add your own content in the areas provided
for in the design layout. It's an easy concept but not
for the unskilled if you don't know coding. There's still
alot of work involved.
The great thing about using pre-designed
turnkey templates is that you don't get an energy drain
on your ideas. You can be on your way to laying out your
entire website in moments. Pick from a website design
that you're happy with and make changes where you want
from there. This website is built from one of the turnkey
website templates available in the Websites

Dreamweaver Templates
There are 2 or 3 big software companies in the world of
web design programs. Macromedia sells a program called
Dreamweaver, the leading program used by designers for
website layout and file management.
One of the great design advantages
of working in Dreamweaver in the construction your website
is that it can save a webpage as a 'Dreamweaver template
file'.
You're pre-existing work is changed
to a Dreamweaver template file when the page is saved.
A website designed off a Dreamweaver template will let
you update every page on your website in seconds.
The dirtcheapwebsites.com website,
at well over 100 pages, is entirely designed from one
Dreamweaver template.
Errors, old links and new content
make updating a website on a regular basis necessary.
In order for a website to be updated easily and quickly,
the whole website should be built from a single Dreamweaver
template.
Areas called 'editable regions'
hold the page content and it's easy to update just one
page or the whole website. This little advantage can save
many hours of design time on larger websites, especially
when alot of navigation links, image rollovers and layers
are used. When your links get messed up across 100 pages
it can be confusing and time consuming to repair it.
A turnkey template can be changed
to a Dreamweaver template because you're starting with
something - a webpage full of tables, text and images.
Whether a turnkey template or a
Dreamweaver template - templates make good sense and are
favorable over non-template designs.
